Paul asks…

If you put your hand in a sink aerator, will it cut your hand?

I never really knew, just wondering because I was curious when one of my friends told me that.

landscapeliving answers:

As "Sensible" said, garbage disposers are nothing to play with. They can grind up chicken bones & ribs - ergo, they can do the same to your hand. The mechanism doesn't know the difference and doesn't care. Only stick your hand into one of them if the power is disconnected and/or the breaker or fuse is off. Don't trust the wall switch to protect you, as somebody else may switch it on at an inconvenient moment.

Steven asks…

How can I get the aerator of my kitchen sink?

I tried a wrench and i tried unscrewing it myself. And i dont have any power tools to get it off.what is one of the manual ways to get it off?

landscapeliving answers:

All you need is a screw driver, a skinny phillips style to turn the lock ring till it lines up and drops through the alignment slots. You can do it !

Ruth asks…

I took my bathroom sink aerator apart to clean it and now I can not put all these pieces together to fit!!?

I have laying before me the round part that screws on to the sink. a round screen thing, 3 pieces of flat screen, a black thing and a white thing that I remember goes on top!

landscapeliving answers:

With no better description of the pieces you have than that, your best option here is to go to a hardware or home improvement store with the chrome outer portion of your aerator and show them the size and threads you need. They'll sell you a proper aerator that you can take home and install as it is. If you should ever take this thing apart again, lay each piece in line as you take it out, then clean it and put it back in in the reverse order that it came out.

Chris asks…

Aerator on a sink for a dishwasher?

What is it for?!?!?!!?

landscapeliving answers:

Air gaps are required by most codes for dishwashers. They are needed to prevent any possible cross-connection between your fresh water system and your sewage system. Without an air gap, there is always a chance (however slim) of siphoning contaminants from your sewage system into your drinking water system.
Sometimes, rather than having an air gap sitting on top of the kitchen sink, a plumber can rig it up underneath so that its hooked in to the garabge disposal. Its not "to code" necessarily, but it will work for the same purpose as a sink mounted air gap..

Nancy asks…

What happened to my kitchen sink Aerator?

I took off the aerator and cleaned it and i did it just like it was done in a how to video on pbs but when i put the Aerator back on the faucet and turn on the water the water just sprays everywhere, when i turn the water on very low its almost a normal stream but still sprays a little, when i turn the water on maximum it just sprays water all over the sink. Its like for some reason now there is way to much air coming through the faucet and its making the water go everywhere. How do i fix this? I took out the aerator because it was really dirty and i had lost pressure but now theres just way to much pressure. I can literally feel the air in the sink when i turn on the faucet, kind of like standing near a waterfall.
I put in the screen piece in which has the screen, a bunch of holes at the top and a white stick that goes up into the faucet and then i put the washer on and screwed it in, thats the only pieces that were on it, so i can't be missing anything.

landscapeliving answers:

Either the aerator isn,t setting in the cup straight or it,s upside down.
